Different things float different readers boats. Sometimes it even depends on the book I'm reading. If I'm reading a sweet YA, I'm all about the sweet moments and butterfly-inducing speeches. When I'm reading a gritty NA or an Adult motorcycle club romance, well, let's just say the sweet and innocent is few and far between. Then, I'm all about the strength and protection that curls my toes.
Strength, charm, a great smile, killer abs, that look in their eyes...swoonalicious.
So, here are our swoonalicious moments of the week. What are YOURS?
RACHEL: Swooning over CAKE by Nicole Reed (In this case, I'm all about the strength):
I've never experienced a man that shows me so much sensuality and demonstrates incredible strength using nothing but his mouth. I'm no anorexic model; yet, he stands holding me up, kissing me, not rushing to put me down, and not overexerted in the least.
KELSEY: Swooning over BURN OUT (Untitled #1) by Kristi Helvig (Note from Kelsey: Oh yeah! I so <3 James! And this novel is amazing! I can't believe it doesn't release until April 2014!)
Our lips were so close that I felt his breath in my mouth as his fingers continued to caress my body. My body shuddered under his hand."How 'bout here? Does it hurt when I touch here?" he asked in a professional tone, but both his hands slid down toward my hips and his lips almost touch mine. I was no doctor but this was definitely not part of any medical exam I'd ever seen. My legs turned to jelly and I trembled. I sighed, and James raised a finger to his lips. Oh yeah, the com system.
ASHLEY: Swooning over THE FUNERAL SINGER by Linda Budzinski:
[He] pulled me toward him and kissed me. It started off as a slow, gentle kiss, his fingertips roaming idly down my back, past my waist and around my hips. I leaned into him, and he kissed me harder, with an intensity I’d never felt before. I once again had the sensation of tumbling through space, only this time I wasn’t falling. I was soaring.
JESSICA: Swooning over TRUST IN ME by J. Lynn (Note from Jess: Actually, I have two, if that's okay? I couldn't choose! Goodness, Cam's so freaking swoon-worthy and I love it so freaking much. <3... to which Rachel says: Heck yeah, it's okay!!)
I caught her, wrapping my arms around her waist as I stumbled back, hitting the counter. Shock radiated through me, quickly followed by a wild warmth that lit up my veins.
My arms tightened around her as she pressed her cheek to my chest and held on just as strongly as I held her. I dropped my face to the top of her hear, inhaling her scent and soaking her response in, holding her close to my heart.
Avery inhaled a breath and said, "I missed you."#2I flashed a quick grin and then shot forward, moving quickly. Her chest rose sharply and her lips parted, as if she anticipated a kiss. As I neared, I saw her lashed flutter closed, and hunger surged through me.
But I didn't kiss her lips. Damn, I wanted to more than anything at that moment, but I knew I had to take things slow with my little Shortcake.
So I kissed the tip of her nose.
Avery jerked back as her eyes flew open and a wide smile broke out across her face. A soft, light giggle erupted from her, and I knew I'd do a ton of terrible things to hear that sound again.
NEREYDA: Swooning over Remembering Joy by Jenni Moen:
His hands grabbed my wet hair and pulled my head back so that my face was painted toward the sky that continued to pour down. His lips trailed from my mouth down my neck. The neckline of my shirt was forcefully pulled over. His mouth continued across my collarbone while a hand expertly manhandled the buttons on my shirt. If I didn’t stop this, I was going to be naked on the street in front of my building.
Even as I considered taking this party inside, my body disobeyed me. My wet hand snaked up under his t-shirt and slid across the ripples that I knew so well. “Let’s go inside, Adam,” I finally whispered. My breathing was ragged. “Or we’re going to get arrested.”
And some delicious repeats:
KELLY: Swooning over WHISPER FALLS by Elizabeth Langston
We kissed so many times I lost count. Long, heated kisses. Brief, playful kisses. All achingly sweet. I thrilled at the feel of him, following wherever he led, hoping to give as much pleasure as I received.
SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN! On your blog (and be sure to leave us a link), and/or on Twitter... SWOON us!
